This version of the Vintaudio library was not ported from GS2, but totally reprogrammed from the ground up. The addition of almost unlimited dimensions in GS3 permits now 32 transition velocities instead of the 16 in GS2. This translates into much smoother transitions from one velocity to another especially in the softer velocities where special attention was given to ensure better response when playing very softly. Obviously 24 bits does sound better and will cut through a mix easier when mixed in with other instruments.
As in the other version of the library you get 3 recorded perspectives, Ambient, Close Miked and Player Perspective in 12 recorded velocities (32 transition velocities) with Release Samples and Pedal Noises Fx
One of the most important if not the most crucial elements of this new version is that Vintaudio actually went back to the studio where the samples were initially recorded to capture Pedal Up and Pedal Down Body resonance and Bridge resonance impulses to use in conjunction with GS3's most powerful and innovative feature, the embedded Gigapulse Pro convolution engine. These were taken from the actual Piano used to record the library, and yes you heard right 2 different sets of impulses! The bridge resonance impulses sound a little brighter and the Body resonance impulses sound much darker giving you 2 different options of Resonance emulation. Two different options really do make a huge difference in realism in conjunction with Pedal Fx noises.
24 bit Halion, kontakt and EXS24 24 bit versions
This version of the library is 12.4 gigs in size and each instrument is 4.1 gigs in size. At a minimum, the library will run with 756 megs of Ram and a Intel P4 1.6 Ghz or Athlon XP 1700+ cpu (@ 1 second preload in Halion, 2 seconds preload requires a minimum of 1 Gig of Ram), ideally 1 Gig of Ram or more and a faster processor will produce better results leaving resources for other samples or programs. Turning off any form of virtual memory (OS specific) will help run the library smoothly. You also need a fast 7200rpm ATA 100 or faster Hard drive that is not fragmented. The library was tested successfully on Maxtor, IBM GXP75 and Western Digital 7200rpm ATA100 Hard drives. The library comes on 12 CDs for PC or 3 DVDs for Mac or PC. The EXS 24 version comes on DVD, we strongly advise getting the 16 bit version unless you're running the most powerful G4s with at least 756 megs of Ram or the newer G5s.
