Future Music - 01/02 Why I only get retro music or camp, dance sample CDs to review I"ll never know, but still, you can probably guess what most of the content is across these two discs just from the title. You get demos and samples from light, Euro pop (the sort of thing played on "Eurotrash", they tell me) to harder Frankfurty, squelchy house. There are plenty of demos (at first I thought it was an album, not a sample CD) plus smaller segments followed by their constituent parts. The first CD is full to the brim of these, ranging in tempo from 130-140bpm. The second CD continues this (at the same sort of tempos) but it also has a CD-ROM partition containing single-hits WAVs of the audio. It"s good to see that the WAVs are included, and because only a relatively small partition is used, it means there"s still over 55 minutes of extra samples to be had on the second disc. But something had to give to result in such a small CD-ROM partition and I"m sorry to report a distinct lack of drum loops. You can, of course, construct your own out of the constituent hits or convert the audio loops, but I"m a lazy WAV user so tend to demand it all on a plate. Still, a good effort that conveys quite a few sides of the Euro scene and makes producing simple, catchy tunes even simpler! Pop-dance is a alive and kicking and it was just a matter of time to be a sample CD released. 30 Construction kits are the base for this CD which are all very well produced. Not so wonderful because a poppy dancetrack has loads of elements, something that"s always underestimated. All instrument and drumsounds in this set hit the right spot for this genre. The sound of the sample themselves is very powerful but also very clean.The individual samples are almost free of effects, which is always useful. But something that makes this product really special are the vocal samples, and the choice of the right voices with the right lyrics. At comes all together to one simple conclusion, absolutely brilliant. A real cool title for your collection with loads of hit potential.
